Rahmbo: We've Had to Force BP at Every Point

A telling news article just came through on the AFP.  In this article it is shown that BP did every thing they could to prevent a workable solution to the greatest environmental catastrophe in U.S. history.

let that sink in.

BP wanted to allow even more destruction.  All the economic damage, the catastrophe that is facing hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S. not to mention the abject devastation of the Gulf wildlife, all of this was to be allowed to continue even further by BP.

And if the Republicans had their way they would have let it happen.

BP 'had to be forced' to act in Gulf says White House in stinging attack on energy giant

White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel also attacked BP chief executive Tony Hayward, calling his attendance at a yacht race on Saturday "part of a long line of PR gaffes and mistakes".

"A lot of things that they had to be pushed to do, and pushed to do faster," said Emanuel in an interview with ABC television's This Week show last night.

He said BP had to be forced to drill two relief wells, not just one; it had to be forced to increase the rate at which it was capturing oil flowing into the Gulf; and it had to be forced to establish a $US20 billion ($A23 billion) escrow account to pay off claims.

Over the past week, the British energy giant has called in more ships and equipment from other locations, announced that it was ahead of schedule in drilling the relief wells, and said it would significantly boost the capture of oil leaking from its busted well.

But Mr Emanuel credited US administration pressure for obtaining those gains.

"They had a system in place, not extensive enough. Not fast enough," he said.

"So we've made them go from 25,000 to 50,000 barrels by the end of this month. And we think by mid-July force - basically making them pick up their game - they can get to 90 per cent," he said.

and what would Republicans do? (WWRD?)

Emanuel: Barton’s apology to BP shows how GOP would govern

And White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel gave viewers of ABC's This Week a pretty good idea of the narrative the Democrats are building when he told Jake Tapper that Barton's words were not a "gaffe" but a political "philosophy."

"That's not a political gaffe. Those were prepared remarks. That is a philosophy," said Emanuel.

"That is an approach -- they see the aggrieved party here as BP, not the fishermen. Remember, this is not just one person. Rand Paul running for Senate in Kentucky. What did he say? He said, the way BP was being treated was un-American. Other members of the Republican leadership have come to the defense of BP and attacked the administration for forcing them to set up an escrow account and fund it to the level of $20 billion. These aren't political gaffes," Emanuel continued.

Unamerican. . .poor poor BP.

but don't you see the real issue?  These practices were allowed to happen based on the Republican corporate strategy of allowing the big corporations to run rough shod over every safety requirement and regulation.

The party of big business is not a party of the people of the United States.

And the GOP that is trying to restore its sense of self in restoring the "Reagan Republicans" as they like to brag, are actually the ones most responsible for the current destruction of U.S. economic well being.

so when are we going to stop pretending that massive power structures in the world who want to destroy the American way of life have not aligned in the form of international corporations and aligned with Republicans (and some democrats)?  When will we see that they are working tirelessly to destroy our position of self-determination, and our economic well being.

When are we going to wake up and realize that these forces have co-opted the Republican party through and through.  Do we need Alan Grayson to remind us again and again?

Dennis Kucinich says that there are war profiteering contractors paying Taliban tribes to attack, or not attack, our troops in Afghanistan so that they can continue to make money off of the war.

At what point do we realize that there is an orchestrated attack on the people of the United States?

.

.

if we lived in a plutocracy how would we know?

.

Would they tell us to our faces???

.

We Are Screwed
